If you have ever owned a dog you'll know they are pretty good at jumping up and putting their paws on things. Whether that be on you, on visitors, on the kitchen surface or countless other things!
We often take this behaviour for granted. Even punish it, but actually, it's a useful tool. It's important our dogs know how their bodies work and move. This reduces the possibility of injuries. It's also useful for trick training and agility among other things. The first port of call for dealing with jumping up is also teaching an up and an off command. Something people completely forget about!
Parkour is also a great way of increasing confidence. Teaching puppies to stand on uneven surfaces that are a variety of textures. Give it a go. See how hard your dog finds it. Figuring out how their body works takes some serious brainpower!
